Have you been selling your goods at market after market and feeling like its costing you the same amount its making you? This is very normal when you are first getting started so do not be discouraged, plus I'm here to help! These four easy ways listed below to Increase market sales can totally turn things around.
1. Add Dimension to Your Display - Your display needs two things for success: dimension and a VIBE. What I mean by this is creating a market display that has different levels i.e products on racks, on platforms, tiered shelves and anything that raises your products up off the flat table. Having your products spread out and on different levels, rather than sitting flat on your table helps to create a feeling of professionalism, and credibility that your products are of a higher quality and value and even credibility in the things you have to say to customers. The more time and thought you put into a display, the more of an established business you seem.
2. Creating a Vibe - Also, you want to keep in mind when designing your table that you should have a "vibe". A Vibe is an emotion triggered by an atmosphere and usually people tend to have similar vibes to other people like them. You are going to want to take a look at your target market and find out what atmosphere they are most comfortable in and what THEY are most drawn to, not what YOU are most drawn to, this is an easy mistake to make. Once you have identified what look will draw your customers in, its time to decorate and if you are having any trouble with ideas just google the type of atmosphere you are hoping to create and many helpful photos usually come up!
3. Be Inviting, Not Intimidating - There is a big difference between being inviting and being aggressive and unfortunately a lot of people don't understand this. One of the best tips I have for increasing your market sales is to just SMILE! Smile & Stand Up (But out of the way, the customer should be able to come in and start looking without feeling like you are going to be swarming them like a hawk). When A customer walks into your booth simple greet them casually with a smile. and allow them to quietly start looking at your products. If you allow the quiet instead of spewing info about your products right away, it will give the customer a chance to feel relaxed and comfortable to look at what you have. The second you start spewing info people stop looking and they try to get away from you as fast as they can because they DO NOT want to be pressured to buy. Instead, allow the silence for a few moments until you can see they are relaxed and start with questions about THEM (i.e How was your day today? Are you From The Area? Have you ever seen or used this before?). Just keep asking them easy and casual questions while they shop so you can get to know them and their needs much more effectively. Once you know what the customer is really interest in you can use that opportunity to reinforce what benefits about YOUR product would meet her needs.
4. Positive Self Thought - Believe you can. The more you think "Im not good at selling, Im not good at speaking to people, Are my products over priced" etc. etc. The more you will actually believe these things to be true and the more they will become true. Change these self thoughts to things that will help you like "I am an excellent sales person, I am going to make more sales than anyone else today, my product is Amazing, my work is amazing" and so on. Any time that you have a negative thought, change it into a positive on and repeat it back to yourself in your head over and over again until it becomes your new reality.
