Self Care or Self Sabotage?

Are you taking care of yourself or are you just nurturing a negative habit that over time will become an unconscious daily practice and lead to your health and well being deteriorating?
This is an important question because with the untick in self care practices people are more often than not using "self-care" as a justification for choices and actions that are really just the opposite.
Say you sit down on the couch every day after work and munch through half a bag of chips and justify that in your mind as "self-care" because you are stressed out from work. The next thing you know, you start putting on weight. You get sluggish. You start being upset with your body and your mind. All the while still maintaining your not so self-care habit of couch time day in and day out because it makes you feel "rejuvenated" or "better". Overtime this quick little 10 or 20 minute habit puts 20, 30, 40 extra pounds on your body... This is not self care. This is self sabotage.
This is just one quick example of how justifying a bad habit by calling it "self-care" can be extremely hard on your health and overall life. I want you to take a real look at your habits. What are you doing day in and day out that you say is self-care but really doesn't have any positive side effects to your health or wellbeing, and in time will snowball to create a much bigger problem? Is it the extra alcoholic beverage each night? The extra cheesy dishes? The couch? The fast-food?
Its time to cut out the crap and focus on self-care that ACTUALLY has a positive impact on our health and wellbeing.
PS. Don't make the mistake of thinking one occasional self care action is enough - It's not. Self-Care needs to be a regular practice and daily habit to have a real positive impact on your life... And for those of you saying "I don't have time", Stop making excuses. Go to bed earlier and wake up early, cut out bad habits and find the time because you cannot care for others if you yourself are unwell. Put on your oxygen mask first.
